Building confidence - special talents

Instructions Printer-Friendly

  • Use child’s name and encourage him to use names for the children and adults in their lives 
  • Find a “special” talent this month in a child.  Perhaps its doing a great job with an If Not You, Who? activity, waking up with a smile on their face, dribbling a soccer ball, obeying a request the first time you ask, making their bed very neatly, etc.  By acknowledging one talent other talents will surface as confidence builds.

Simplify

Find a family photograph and let child name all the people in the picture.  Ask what special talent each person in the photo has that the child can state.

Extend

Have child state a talent another family member or friend shows - rides a two-wheeler, makes a yummy dinner, etc. and why they would like to have that talent also.
