Using our taste buds to recognize five basic kinds of tastes
Instructions
Introduce the five categories of taste - Sweet, Salty, Bitter, Sour and Umami
- Add one of these ingredients to each of the five glasses of water
- Salt for Salty Taste
- Sugar for Sweet Taste
- Lemon juice for Sour Taste
- Tonic water for Bitter Taste
- Soy sauce for Umami Taste
- Together taste and share the name of each category of taste

After the child has been told the taste names - salty, sweet, sour, bitter and umami; write each name on a label/paper and let child place by the correct glass of water after tasting
