Instructions
- Ask a child to think of an animal that begins with a short sound of A - antelope, ant, alligator, anteater, etc.
- Find a picture of an animal beginning with A and put into a 3 ring binder behind the letter A. Click here to find pictures of animal names beginning with A.
- Go and learn about aardvarks here - hear a rhyme and watch a video
- Ask a child to think of an animal that begins with a short sound of E - elephant, elf (baby newt) elk, etc.
- Find a picture of an animal beginning with E and put into 3 ring binder behind the letter E. Click here to find pictures of animal names beginning with E.
- Go and learn about an eyelash pit viper here- hear a rhyme and watch an amazing video showing how the pit viper strikes
Simplify
Beforehand have pictures of animals that begin with A and E for a child to use. Say the name of an "A" animal and see if the child can select from a group of animals. Say the name of an "E" animal and see if the child can select from a group of animals.
If cutting out the pictures is too hard - just let the child tear it out.
Extend
Encourage the child to use scissors to cut out the animal pictures or have them draw their own animal pictures.
