Drawing and erasing shapes
Month 6 · Activity 3 · Shapes
Instructions
- Use a dry erase board or a chalkboard
- Write at the top of the board the name of a shape - Rectangle. Say name of the shape
- The child draws that shape under the name
- Erase shape and name
- Repeat for a triangle, circle, and square
- Watch this video to review shape of a rectangle
Simplify
Under the word rectangle, draw a rectangle for the child to trace with his own marker. See if they can make their own rectangle. Do the same for a triangle, circle, and square.
Extend
Tell a child the letters to write for each shape and let them write on the board. Say r-e-c-t-a-n-g-l-e and watch the child write each letter. Say the word aloud and encourage the child to repeat. Let them draw their own rectangle under the word. Do the same for a triangle, circle, and square.
