First Name

Using paper plates for a name puzzle

Month 4 · Activity 1 ·   Name Activity

Instructions

  • You will need two paper plates
  • On the first plate write the child’s name using uppercase print for the first letter and lower case print for remaining letters.  Repeat name on the second plate.
  • Cut one plate into 3 to 6 jigsaw type pieces. Can draw puzzle lines on the plate's back for the child to use as a guide
  • Let the child put puzzle pieces together to spell his name using the uncut paper plate as a guide

Simplify

Let an adult cut one of the paper plates into jigsaw pieces.  A child can place cut puzzle pieces on top of the first paper plate to match his name.

Extend

If the child doesn't need the second name paper plate as a guide, cut that plate into a different jigsaw piece name puzzle with more pieces.  Use with spelling words for an older child.
