Rainbow

Sing to songs "Roy G Biv" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" while drawing and learning the colors of the rainbow

Instructions

  • Using an internet search engine type in  “rainbow” to see the shape and colors in the rainbow 
  • Share with child that each rainbow has the same colors in the same order
  • A way to remember the colors is to remember the name Roy G Biv 
  • R = Red; O = Orange; Y = Yellow; G = Green; B = Blue; I = Indigo and V = Violet
  • Write the name Roy G Biv and ask child to gather those crayons
  • Using the correct colors, looking at a rainbow, and using Roy G Biv let child draw a rainbow
  • Listen to song "Roy G Biv" and "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" while drawing rainbow

Extend

Ask child to name the color at the bottom of the rainbow (violet); what color is at the top (red); what color is in the middle of the rainbow (green).
