Instructions
- Place hand on your stomach to use as a dividing line for above and below
- Ask the child to name a body part above the stomach (head, ears, shoulders, etc.)
- Ask the child to name a body part below the stomach (legs, knees, feet, etc.)
- Alternate between naming body parts above and below for five turns
Simplify
Tell a child a body part and ask if the body part is above or below your stomach. For example, is your head above or below your stomach/or hand across your stomach?
Watch/Listen to a "My Body" song or Watch/Listen to learn body parts
Extend
Use a variety of body terms and see if the child can locate on their body - head, neck, chest, arm, hand, leg, foot, heart, brain, liver, kidneys, pelvis, pancreas, appendix, lungs, mouth, lips, teeth, tongue, liver, esophagus, gallbladder, spleen, small intestine, pituitary gland, toenails, spinal code, larynx, rib cage, etc.
