First Name

Read "AlphaBugs: A Pop Up Alphabet Book" and find the letters in a child’s name

Instructions Printer-Friendly

  • Read the book “ AlphaBugs: A Pop Up Alphabet Book” by David Carter or Read/Listen here
  • Have an alphabet chart showing both lower and upper case letters
  • Say one letter in the child’s name and let him point to that letter with his finger on the alphabet chart. Repeat with remaining letters in child’s name
  • Listen to this video on spelling your name

* Make your own alphabet chart with a piece of paper and marker if you don't already have one!

Simplify

If a child doesn't recognize the letters in his name, have the child place a hand on top of an adult's hand and together touch the letters in his name on the alphabet chart while the letter is said aloud.

Extend

Using the book, “ AlphaBugs: A Pop Up Alphabet Book” by David Carter, look for the letters in child's name or you may use any favorite book

QUESTIONS FOR CHILD

If you could trade names with a friend, who would it be and why?

If you could name a pet, what would the name be and what type of pet?
