Read the book "How Kind" by Mary Murphy to recall details and how to share kind efforts
Instructions
- Read the book “How Kind” by Mary Murphy or Read/Listen here
- After reading the book, let the child name the animals who did something kind
- Ask the child to name one kind thing they have done or seen someone else do
Simplify
Use the book to show each of the animals as child describes what "kind" thing the animal did
Extend
Discuss an activity for the child to do the next day that shows they are kind. Tomorrow, remember to ask how they felt when they did a kind act.
See if the child can remember and name the animals in order as introduced in the book.

Why would you like a friend to be kind?

Kind To Others

5 little children
Standing in a row ( hold up 5 fingers)
They are kind to others
Everywhere they go. (walk hand in front of body)

I'll be kind to others (point to self)
Wherever I go. (walk hand in front of body)
(This fingerplay works as a reminder to a child to be kind in any situation- without saying a word. Just walk hand in front of body to silently signal a child to remember to be kind or use actual sign language for the word kind.)
