Introducing #3
The song "Three Little Birds" helps with learning number three and a calendar activity
Month 3 · Activity 6 · Numbers
Instructions
- Listen to the song "Three Little Birds" by Bob Marley or watch video here. Count how many times you hear the word “three”. (Three is sung twice in the song)
- Make flashcards of numbers 1, 2, and 3
- Let the child choose one of the flashcards
- The child decides on an activity to do that selected number of times
- For example, if the child selected number 2, they could choose to clap 2 times. If the child selects the number 3, they could choose to jump 3 times, etc.
- Look at the calendar together and review any special dates (such as birthdays or events) that should be put on the calendar for this month
- Using a red crayon let the child draw a circle or square around each calendar month’s number 3. A child should be finding all twelve number 3’s on the 12-month calendar
Simplify
Watch this video to sing about the number three (3)
Extend
Encourage the child to put the flashcards in the correct order - 1,2,3
When making a mark on each month's number 3 - say the name of the months
