Thinking game using verbal skills

Instructions
- Make cards with names/pictures of rooms in the home or say the name of the room - kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, living room, gathering room, study, basement, laundry room, playroom, exercise room, etc.
- Ask the child what type of activity you would do in each of the rooms
- For example: What type of activities can you do in a "kitchen"? (I would eat in the kitchen; I would make food in the kitchen; etc.
- Ask the child what type of items you might find in each of the rooms
- For example: What is an object you would find in a "kitchen"? (I would find a stove in a kitchen; I would find a cupboard in the kitchen; etc.)
- Encourage the child to answer in a complete sentence
Extend
Share with a child an activity or an object and let the child tell you what room in a house that could be used or found. For example, Where would you wash your hands? Where could I read a book? Where would I find a washing machine? Where would I find a shirt to wear? Where would I watch television? Here is a bed, where would I find it in a house? Here is a rug, where would I find it in a house? etc.
