Month 1 · Activity 25 · Lifeskills
Instructions
Teach the “My Name Song” to your child
My Name Song
(Sung to tune of BINGO)
There was a family who had a child
and Carly (insert child's name) was her name.
C - A - R - L - Y... C - A - R - L - Y... C - A - R - L - Y (spell child's name three times)
And Carly (insert child's name) was her name
Teach the child to wash hands for as long as it takes them to sing the Name Song for two reasons.
- This is how long it takes to remove germs. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention state to scrub vigorously for 20 seconds
- It is a reminder to conserve water as we turn off the water when the song is finished
Simplify
Sing the "Alphabet Song" when washing hands
Look at this poster that shows steps to clean hands.
Extend
Create new first lines to the song. For example, instead of There was a family who had a child - try
There is a boy who I adore OR There was a family with a girl
