Play song Joyfulness while doing the following activity
Write the word Joyfulness at the top of a blue piece of paper. Make sure the child watches you as you write.
Gather magazines and let the child cut out 2 smiling (happy) faces
Glue faces on the blue piece of paper
If cutting is too hard, can tear out the faces
Place finished paper in a prominent spot in the home (refrigerator, child’s door, etc.)

As mentioned in directions, let child tear out the pictures if using scissors becomes an issue.

Cut out as many happy faces as there are people in the family. This encourages a child to think of how numbers relate to objects.
