Using a paper towel megaphone to teach vocabulary words

Month 2 · Activity 11 ·   Senses  

Instructions

  • Share using an empty paper towel roll as a megaphone
  • Say the words below to your child and let them mimic through the megaphone
  • Use a variety of “voices”...... whisper, yell, sing, etc.
  • Words to use: square, circle, blue, yellow, head, shoulders, elbows, hands, feet, wrist, knee, toe, belly button, big, bigger, happy, small

Simplify

Encourage a child to just talk into the megaphone

Extend

Say each of the words in distinct syllables and ask the child how many parts or syllables are in the word... square (1), cir-cle (2), blue (1),  yel-low (2), head (1), shoul-ders (2), el-bows (2), hands (1), feet (1), wrist (1), knee (1), toe (1), bel-ly (2) but-ton (2), big (1), big-ger (2), hap-py (2), small (1)
